GRAPE-VARIETY: Barbera
VINEYARD: Codana in Castiglione Falletto (CN)
GRAPE-HARVEST: First two weeks in October.
WINE-MAKING PROCESS: Traditional-style, floating cap fermentation for 15/20 days. These estate-grown grapes are harvested from 60/70-year-old vines with low yields. The wine is then matured in French oak for approximately 18 months.
EXPECTED CELLAR LIFE: 10/20 years
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13-14%
BOTTLING: After two years following the vintage
TASTING NOTES:
COLOUR: deep ruby red, with elegant garnet highlights on ageing;
NOSE: vinous, varietal, ample;
TASTE: powerful, with stuffing and lots of body, well-balanced, round, packed with character, slightly tannic.
